When I was seven years old I discovered the guitar and fell in love with the idea of being a guitarist. Ten years later I moved to London and joined Armada, a jazz-rock band featuring the jazz legend Sammy Rimmington. Two years (and a lot of “dues”) later I joined Curved Air, recording Air Cut and Lovechild and playing live dates. Following this I formed Stretch, with singer Elmer Gantry, recording and producing (with Elmer) four albums. In 1976 I wrote the single “Why Did You Do It?” which achieved international success and was later featured in the movie “Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels”. In 1978 I recorded and produced a solo album, “Composition”. I spent the next few years working with a wide range of artists, such as “Gloria Mundi”, “Snips”, Cozy Powell, Graham Bonnet and Joan Armatrading.

By the late eighties I decided to do something different and trained to be a Psychotherapist. Over the last 20 years I have worked as both a musician and psychotherapist. In 2007, together with Elmer Gantry, I reformed Stretch and toured in the UK. In 2010 we recorded “Unfinished Business” - a fifth Stretch album and played a sell-out show at London’s Borderline club.
In 2011 Sonja invited me to make a guest appearance with Curved Air (at the Cheese & Grain in Frome) as part of their Live Atmosphere tour. I was really impressed with the band and enjoyed it immensely. So, when Sonja recently asked me to rejoin the band it was as they say in America “a no-brainer”.
I am glad to be back in the fold and still in love with the idea of being a guitarist.
